Ending homelessness on the Palouse, one family at a time.
Did you know families comprise nearly 40% of all who are homeless and more than 15% of Americans live in poverty, including one in five children (22%), the highest rate in the industrialized world?
Family Promise of the Palouse is a nonprofit organization that operates through an Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) to provide immediate shelter to homeless families in our community while helping people achieve lasting independence. Our IHN is a partnership of interfaith congregations in our community helping families who are facing homelessness. We are an affiliate of the national Family Promise program that has served over 400,000 people – mostly children – over the past 20 years.
In our first year of operation, we provided temporary shelter and support to 16 families and saw 80% of them move on to a better housing situation.
Palouse Habitat for Humanity needs our help. Habitat for Humanity is always looking for Volunteers, however at this time they are in need of Saturday volunteers to help with supplying lunch to the builders that are building at the build site in Moscow. Often times Habitat can help with the cost of food for this. For more information please go the website www.palousehabitat.org or contact Habitat for Humanity at, 208-883-8502.
